Electronic structure of polycrystalline CVD- graphene revealed by Nano-ARPES

چکیده
The ability to explore electronic structure and their role in determining material’s macroscopic behaviour is essential to explain and engineer functions of material and device. Since its debut in 2004, graphene has attracted global research interest due to its unique properties. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) has emerged as an important method for the massive preparation and production of graphene for various applications. Here by employing angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with nanoscale spatial resolution ∼ 100 nm (NanoARPES), we describe the approach to measure the electronic structure of polycrystalline graphene on copper foils, demonstrating the power of Nano-ARPES to detect the electronic structure of microscopic single crystalline domains, being fully compatible with conventional ARPES. Similar analysis could be employed to other microscopic materials

Exploring electronic structure of one-atom thick polycrystalline graphene films: A nano angle resolved photoemission study
The ability to produce large, continuous and defect free films of graphene is presently a major challenge for multiple applications. Even though the scalability of graphene films is closely associated to a manifest polycrystalline character, only a few numbers of experiments have explored so far the electronic structure down to single graphene grains. Here we report a high resolution angle and ...
متن کاملElectronic structure of few-layer epitaxial graphene on Ru(0001).
The electronic structure of epitaxial monolayer, bilayer, and trilayer graphene on Ru(0001) was determined by selected-area angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (micro-ARPES). Micro-ARPES band maps provide evidence for a strong electronic coupling between monolayer graphene and the adjacent metal, which causes the complete disruption of the graphene pi-bands near the Fermi energy. However,...
متن کاملTwisting bilayer graphene superlattices.
Bilayer graphene is an intriguing material in that its electronic structure can be altered by changing the stacking order or the relative twist angle, yielding a new class of low-dimensional carbon system. Twisted bilayer graphene can be obtained by (i) thermal decomposition of SiC; (ii) chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on metal catalysts; (iii) folding graphene; or (iv) stacking graphene layers...
متن کاملAnalyzing Dirac Cone and Phonon Dispersion in Highly Oriented Nanocrystalline Graphene.
Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is one of the most promising growth techniques to scale up the production of monolayer graphene. At present, there are intense efforts to control the orientation of graphene grains during CVD, motivated by the fact that there is a higher probability for oriented grains to achieve seamless merging, forming a large single crystal. However, it is still challenging t...
متن کاملCORRIGENDUM: Multiple π-bands and Bernal stacking of multilayer graphene on C-face SiC, revealed by nano-Angle Resolved Photoemission
The authors neglected to cite a related study that reports an ARPES experiment indicating the presence of multiple p bands in multilayer graphene on C-face SiC. 1 This is given below as Reference 1. In the present Article, nano-ARPES band mappings of individual graphene grains unambiguously show that multilayer C-face graphene exhibits multiple p-bands.
